Hello again!
Growing up I was always surrounded by Salvadorans (people who identify with El Salvador in Central America). My uncle married a Salvadoran woman and my Latinx neighborhood consisted of mostly people of Mexican or Salvadoran descent.
So, naturally, I am a huge fan of their beloved pupusas. A thick handmade corn tortilla filled with a variety of flavorful ingredients; cheese, pork, vegetables, etc. My mother-in-law makes them a few times a year (birthdays and holidays) and we all get so excited to come over when she does. Pupusas are to Salvadorans what tamales are to Mexicans.
A restaurant that I know makes really good ones, and that are mother-in-law approved, is La Costa Del Sol. Not only is the restaurant reminiscent of what restaurants actually look like in El Salvador, but the service is great too.
The pupusas are not greasy and thicker than other restaurants I’ve been to. They are fairly priced and they are generous with the garnishes that come with them.
We didn’t try any of their other plates, but I’m sure they are also great as the restaurant has rave reviews on Yelp.
Go ahead and give them a try!
And if you have never tried pupusas before, you are missing out!
Have a sweet day!
