One of the best Al Pastor tacos in San José

As a Mexican-American woman, I have had my fair share of tacos. For breakfast, for lunch, for dinner, and any time in between. I love tacos. They’re in my blood. An important part of my culture. I could eat them every day if I could, but my daughter’s would hate me (they tend to get bored easily).

A quick history on the taco:

It is believed that the Aztecs invented the tortillas and that their great and respected emperor, Moctezuma, once used the tortilla as a spoon to eat his food (meat, beans, and chiles). And there you have it, that’s how the taco was invented.

Quick, right?

Let’s get back to the best Al Pastor taco in San Jose.

I was driving back from thrift shopping with my daughter a few weeks ago when we noticed a bright orange and green food truck with a long line customers on the side of the road. The name of the truck was, Metro Balderas. We did a quick Yelp check and noticed they had over four stars. So, we decided to make a U-turn and try it out. We ordered a few tacos each and sat down. They called our number just minutes later. We got up and took our tacos back to our table. First, admired how amazing they looked! Then, we snapped a few shots (because Instagram), and dug in.

WOW! Truly a delight with authentic Mexico City flavors! And believe me, I’ve tried many different places around the Bay. Awesome flavor, warm handmade tortillas, tasty salsa, and the most great-tasting al pastor meat. It even had the traditional small chunks of pineapple scattered throughout. We enjoyed them so much we’ve gone back three times now.

I definitely recommend you try this taco truck. You don’t have to order al pastor tacos, they have so many other items to choose from.

FYI, they have $1 al pastor tacos every Wednesday! They also have a restaurant if taco trucks aren’t your thing.

Either way, check them out!

Enjoy!
